Presiding Bishop Ordains Eight Reverends at PAG Soroti City Church

The Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) Uganda marked a significant spiritual milestone on Monday, September 22, 2026, as Presiding Bishop Rev. Dr. Simon Peter Emiau ordained eight ministers into the Reverend ministry.

The colorful ceremony, held at PAG Soroti Town Church in Soroti District, brought together church leaders, family members, and Christian faithful from across the Teso sub-region to witness the ministers being formally set apart for ministry. The eight ordinands, accompanied by their wives, had fulfilled the church’s requirements for ministerial training and demonstrated their calling and commitment to ministry. Before the ordination, Bishop Rev. Dr. Simon Peter Emiau preached from 1 Chronicles 12:32 under the theme “Prophetic Legacy of Issachar”, with the sub-theme “Understand the Times.” Drawing from the sons of Issachar, who understood the times and knew what Israel ought to do, Bishop Emiau challenged the ordinands to develop spiritual discernment and godly wisdom as they lead and serve in an ever-changing world.

He emphasized that understanding the times requires more than simply being aware of events and circumstances; it requires wisdom rooted in God and the ability to discern His direction. “If you want to understand times, you must have the wisdom that comes from the heart of God,” Bishop Emiau said.

His message set the tone for the ordination, highlighting the responsibility that comes with pastoral ministry and the importance of remaining grounded in God’s Word while faithfully guiding those entrusted to their care.

In his charge to the newly ordained Reverends, Bishop Emiau urged them to remain steadfast in faith, faithful to Scripture, and committed to PAG Uganda’s mission of “Touching and Transforming Nations with the Love of Christ.” He reminded them that ordination is not simply a title, but a commitment to greater responsibility, sacrifice, and spiritual leadership. He also called upon them to uphold the doctrine and values of the Pentecostal Assemblies of God and to lead with integrity and humility.

Bishop Emiau further highlighted the importance of preparing ministers to serve effectively in both the church and society. This reflects PAG Uganda’s ministry pillar of Education and Professional Development, which seeks to equip people with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective service and leadership.

The ordination service was marked by prayer, the laying on of hands, and thanksgiving. Through the laying on of hands, the eight ministers were formally commissioned for their continued ministry, marking an important new chapter in their service to God and His people.

The occasion also reflected PAG Uganda’s continued commitment to developing leaders who can faithfully serve the church and contribute to the transformation of communities across the nation. The leadership of PAG Uganda congratulated the newly ordained Reverends and their wives, praying that God would guide, strengthen, and use them as they take on their new responsibilities in ministry.

The ceremony concluded with thanksgiving from the church community in Soroti and the wider Teso sub-region, celebrating God’s faithfulness and the eight ministers who have been entrusted with greater responsibility in His service.
