Achievements

Garden

The key achievements attained under the different interventions highlighted above in 2023 included the following:

  • Contribution to increased agricultural production resulting in reduced hunger, malnutrition and poverty
  • Reduction of exposure of vulnerable communities to disaster risks including floods, landslides, HIV, and effects of prolonged dry spells
  • Strengthening of community structures with over 800 SHGs and 60 Cluster Levels Associations (CLAs) for lobbying and advocacy towards better community services
  • Procurement of National office vehicles (2); motorcycles (7) and bicycles (3 for pastorate staff and Community Based Facilitators (CBFs); and other equipment including laptops, projectors, cameras and accessories; office furniture, etc
  • Recruitment of new SDS staff and CBFs
  • Launching of three (3) projects (AGL-Kotido & Arua; Child & Maternal Health -Kotido)
  • Completion of 3 Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and 3 baseline surveys in Kasese, Arua and Kotido.
  • Capacity building of staff, CBFs and communities in conservation agriculture, good agronomic practices, SHG approach, Gender, and Policy on Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (PSEA), ICT-based data collection, Land rights, Land Laws and Tenure systems.
  • Training of PDC members on their roles and responsibilities in July 2023.
  • Feeding of 1320 households in Kotido district by giving monthly rations of 50Kgs of Posho, 10 Kgs of Beans, 1Kg of salt, 7Kgs of CSB+ and 3 Liters of Vegetable Oil in 7 distributions.
  • Training of over 400 members in Truth Centred Community Transformation (TCT).
  • Drilling of 6 boreholes and rehabilitation of 26 water sources in Teso.
  • Training of SDS staff and PAG leaders in Theology of Development in Kigezi-Ankole and Teso and Karamoha.
