Desilting in kabuga by community members to reduce incidence of flooding
The Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) Uganda has been actively engaged in community outreach initiatives, focusing on both spiritual and practical needs. One remarkable effort is their project to desilt the Kabuga River as part of an effort to reduce the incidence of flooding in the local community
The Kabuga River, which runs through many areas, has posed a significant risk during the rainy seasons due to frequent flooding. This has led to destruction of property, disruption of livelihoods, and displacement of families. PAG Uganda identified this issue and took action to protect the community from these recurrent disasters.
By organizing the desilting of the river, PAG Uganda is working to clear accumulated silt, debris, and vegetation that have been obstructing the natural flow of the river. This practical step will help improve the river’s capacity to handle heavy rains, reduce blockages, and ultimately prevent flooding. In doing so, PAG is not only addressing an environmental challenge but also showing their commitment to holistic community care.
This project exemplifies PAG Uganda’s belief in “faith in action.” While their mission is primarily spiritual, the church understands that faith also involves serving people in tangible ways. By engaging in this river desilting project, PAG Uganda is demonstrating the love of Christ through service, ensuring that their community can live in safety and dignity.
The church’s involvement in such a project highlights the Pentecostal value of compassion and service, working toward the well-being of individuals and the community as a whole. For PAG Uganda, addressing the physical needs of the people, such as reducing flood risks, is seen as an integral part of living out their faith.
